In 2012 a major event was held in Rio de Janiero called ‘Rio+20’, the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development. It was held 20 years on from the first Earth Summit in 1992. At one of the gala evening events organized by the Global Compact a group of dancers came on stage after the final celebratory dinner. This photograph is of one of the dancers as she moved to the front of the stage and leaned forward, her eyes flashing with emotional intensity, her skin shining from the exertion.
