This volume is an English translation of the second Chinese edition of the second volume of the ‘Selected Works of Mao Tse-tung’, published by the People’s Publishing House, Peking in April 1960. Henry Norman Bethune (1890–1939) was a Canadian physician. Dr Bethune is widely acknowledged as the person who brought modern medicine to rural China. Mao Zedong wrote a eulogy to him.
